Observing your faith
Because of the influx of European settlers in the 1800s, Christianity is the predominant faith observed in Tasmania. However, as the cultural diversity of the Launceston region has increased people of many faiths now reside and worship in Launceston.
In addition to dozens of Christian churches and communities, Launceston is home to a synagogue and small Jewish community and, at the University campus, a purpose- built prayer room now serves growing permanent and visiting Muslim communities.
